"Birds of Prey" co-stars Ewan McGregor and Mary Elizabeth Winstead welcomed their first child together. Ewan's daughter, Clara McGregor, confirmed the birth of the baby in an Instagram post Sunday.
Clara took to Instagram to share two photos of her with her sibling, calling the new addition to their family "the greatest gift." "Welcome to the world little brother. Congratulations to my Dad & Mary- this is the greatest gift," she captioned the post.
Esther McGregor, Clara's younger sister, also posted on Instagram to introduce their new baby brother to the world. "Met my little brother looking like a pirate," she wrote. "I recommend! Welcome to the family little Laurie."
The news came as a surprise to fans as neither Ewan nor Winstead announced that the actress was pregnant. Moreover, Winstead was never spotted or photographed with a baby bump throughout her pregnancy.
Ewan and Winstead first met on the set of "Fargo" in 2016. They co-starred in "Birds of Prey" in 2020, three years after Winstead split from Riley Stearns, her husband of seven years. Ewan also filed for divorce from Eve Mavrakis months later due to irreconcilable differences, but it wasn't until August 2020 that it was finalized. Ewan and Mavrakis were married for 22 years and share four children, Clara, 25, Esther, 19, Jamyan, 20, and Anouk, 10.
Rumors about Ewan and Winstead's relationship started to circulate in May 2017, when they were spotted having dinner together and sharing a passionate kiss at a restaurant in London. In February 2018, reports about Winstead and Ewan's breakup made the rounds online. However, they dispelled the rumors when they were spotted together on the set of "Gemini Man" two months later.
In an interview with Glamour UK in January 2020, Winstead revealed that her relationship with McGregor was going strong. She also gushed about how happy she had been since her divorce. "Accepting that change is a good thing and that it's OK not to know where that change is going to take you was a big turning point," she said.
