The snap was taken by McDonald’s worker Fred Reardon, who promptly posted to Facebook. While the Daily Mail credited the shot to Reardon, International Business Times was unable to locate Reardon’s Instagram page. He might have taken it down after the photo went viral.
When the photo was shot, Reardon and his unnamed co-worker smiled brightly. Rooney, on the other hand, looked perturbed.
Twitter users quickly helped the photo go viral Friday. One of the most popular tweets was from the fan account with the handle @ManUtd_HQ, who claims to be “Everything Manchester United [18+] not associated with @ManUtd ‘Don't own video content posted.’”
The tweet was liked more than 100 times by their 23,000 followers. “McDonald’s staff take a selfie with Rooney....But Rooney doesn't look one bit amused #mufc,” the message read.

Rooney regularly shares photos with his three children and wife on Instagram. “Becoming a dad means you have to be a role model for your son and be someone he can look up to,” he famously once said. He is also the father to sons Klay and Kit.
