Father Alerts Cops, Thwarts Probable Mass Shooting In Texas

A fearless Texas father helped prevent a possible mass shooting by calling cops on his son. An emotionally unwell 27-year-old man was held by police immediately after being informed by his father who allegedly saw him searching for a gun.

The incident took place on Sept. 3 but the public disclosure of the same was made by the police department on Monday. The incident happened four weeks after a mass shooting occurred at a Walmart about 600 miles away in El Paso, Texas claiming 22 lives, reported ABC News.

Buddy Calzada, Fort Worth Police Department public information officer informed that the man, whose name is withheld, was known to police. He added, "It was reported that he had withdrawn money and stated he was going to buy guns," Calzada said about the man.

The police report further informed that the man was refused after he allegedly visited several local stores hunting for one. The shopkeepers had an inkling of his psychological instability, the report added.

The members of the Police department’s Crisis Intervention Team ran an investigation and seized the suspect in west downtown Fort Worth with $600 to $700 cash with which he admitted he would buy a gun off the street.

“He made multiple statements to officers indicating he was going to harm many people and kill as many as he could," Calzada stated.

The man was caught and sent to a local mental health facility which is his current adobe. However, he is not slapped with any charges just yet and his release date from the mental health facility is still to be determined.

Calzada believes that the man’s father is a saver of lives. He called the father whose name is withheld too “extremely brave”. He also added, “t's hard. I'm a father myself, and it's hard for me to discipline my kids and put them in check, and if I had to call and ask someone else to do it, that would make it even tougher."
