A teen girl from Alabama was violently assaulted by her father after she informed her mother about his alleged affair, police said. A neighbor called the cops after the 14-year-old was found covered in "obvious injuries."

The unidentified girl from Franklin County was rescued after she escaped from the house and ran to her neighbor for help, Franklin County Sheriff's office said, as reported by CBS 42.

The deputies who responded to the scene arrested the girl's father, 39-year-old Christopher Andrighetti, who was hiding in a bedroom closet inside his residence. Andrighetti had blood all over him from "self-inflicted lacerations" to his arms and waist, according to reports.

Andrighetti reportedly started brutally beating the teen after he realized she told her mother about him creating a social media account and possibly having an affair, police said.

The teen told the cops that her father repeatedly slapped and punched her, and hit her with a shower curtain rod and wood. The suspect allegedly shoved her to the floor and threw several items- including glass bottles at her, as reported by NY Post.

After the violent assault, Andrighetti asked the girl to clean up the mess. When the girl went inside the kitchen to grab trash bags, she found the front door open and managed to escape the house.

When the officers responded to the mobile home, they found another child at the residence who was hiding inside a closet. There were broken beer bottles, smashed electronic items, and scattered pieces of furniture inside the home. Cops also noticed drops of blood outside the main door.

The teen was rushed to a hospital where she is being treated for her injuries, reports said. Meanwhile, it was unclear if the second child found at the home had signs of abuse. The officials have not revealed the age of the second child and the custody details of the two children.

Meanwhile, Andrighetti was remanded to police custody at the Franklin County Detention Center while awaiting a bond hearing. The charges against him include first-degree domestic violence, second-degree domestic violence, and child abuse, according to court records.
