A Kentucky father was arrested and charged with two counts of assault and one count of abuse of a minor. According to reports, Sean Dykes, 24, attacked his 3-month-old daughter in a fit of rage.

According to medical records, Dykes assaulted the infant causing 27 fractures in her skull, ribs, spine, arms, legs, hands and feet. The victim also suffered retinal hemorrhaging, bruises to the face, head and stomach and possible internal injuries.

The incident took place on May 25 in Madison County. Police arrived at the scene after receiving a call about an abuse.

After being arrested Dykes, who claimed to have multiple personality disorder, told police he had grabbed his daughter and slammed her onto a bed in a fit of rage, then blacked out, WYMT reported. Dykes was the only person who was with the newborn when she was injured.

"Dykes said the only possible explanation is that he punched the infant in the head, which caused (her) injuries," the arrest citation said, according to the Richmond Register. "Dykes agreed that all the evidence suggested he was the one responsible."

Assistant Police Chief Rodney Richardson said the baby was lucky to have survived the attack

"Luckily, with a lot of prayer, I think, and some blessing, she's still alive," he told WKYT. "Right now, other than some long-term effects, she may be doing OK."

This is not the first time Dykes had a run-in with law enforcement. In March, he was accused of pushing and strangling his girlfriend, who is the baby's mother.

Dykes was placed in the Madison County Detention Center where he was held without bond.
