A father was charged with murder for fatally shooting a man in California as revenge stemming from the death of his 16-year-old daughter.

The Alameda County district attorney reportedly announced charges against 52-year-old Louie Sixto Lopez Tuesday in the killing of 40-year-old Reynaldo Cantu.

Lopez went to Cantu's residence at the 7600 block of Sunset Avenue in Newark on Dec. 2, around 2:20 p.m., and approached him when he was sitting inside his parked car in the driveway, a news release said. Armed with a gun, Lopez confronted Cantu and asked him the whereabouts of his son. Lopez accused Cantu's son of killing his daughter, who died on Oct. 3, according to The Sacramento Bae.

Moments later, Lopez shot Cantu twice. He was later pronounced dead at the scene. Lopez then walked back to his car parked a block away and fled the scene, as per a probable cause statement. The entire incident was captured by a Ring camera fixed over Cantu's garage, it added.

While his son was not home at the time of the incident, Cantu's wife Celestina called 911 and reported the shooting.

"Nothing was ever done," Celestina told KTVU, maintaining that her son had nothing to do with the girl's death.

Lopez was arrested on Dec. 3 in San Jose. Cops recovered a firearm, with a 30-round magazine, zip ties, rope, a large survival knife, and duct tape among Lopez's items. They also found the clothing Lopez wore at the time of the shooting.

"Lopez was determined to be the suspect in this case, due to his stature, facial features, and a bald head," the statement added. He was charged with murder and gun use enhancement.

The details regarding the reason why Lopez would assume Cantu's son was behind his daughter's death remained unknown.

Lopez's daughter Danielle died on Oct. 3 after she was hit by multiple vehicles while walking on Interstate 680 in San Jose, Mercury News reported, citing California Highway Patrol.

Danielle had previously said she was with her boyfriend, Cantu's son, in a car at some point during the night of her death. After an argument, she got out of the vehicle a few exits from where her body was found, KTVU reported in October.
