Father, Son Found Dead In Suspected Murder-Suicide, Police Find Notes Written In Blood
In a horrific incident, police officers found bodies of two people, identified as father and son, along with notes written in blood inside their residence in Scotland on April 16 (Thursday).
Police officers had received a phone call about the incident on Thursday at around 7 p.m. local time (2 p.m. EDT) and rushed to the house located at Lanfine Road in the town's Ralston area. When they arrived at the scene, officers found the bodies of two men.
The officers sealed off a section of the street as they investigated one of the properties in the residential area. Soon after, specialist forensic officers arrived at the scene.
"Around 7 pm on Thursday 16 April 2020, police received a call to attend at Lanfine Road, Paisley. Officers attended and discovered two men had died within the property. The deaths are currently being treated as unexplained and inquiries are ongoing,” mentioned a spokeswoman for Scotland Police.
Following the post mortem examinations, the two were identified as father and son. They were identified as 60-year-old James Mooney and 23-year-old Nicolas Mooney.
Police later stated that the case was suspected to be a murder-suicide. They believe that the son had killed his father before killing himself. According to sources, notes written with blood were found in the house.
“There were notes written in blood in the house. Nicholas stabbed his dad and then killed himself. He left a bloody note... where they found him. The note said something like, ‘It’s nothing to do with anybody else’,” mentioned one of the sources.
“Following post mortem examinations the death of the 60-year-old man is being treated as murder. He can now be named as James Mooney,” said Detective Inspector Erin Renwick while adding that his family members were informed about the incident.
“The death of the 23-year-old man is now being treated as suspicious. Although our detailed investigation is continuing to establish the exact circumstances, we do believe that it was contained within this house and we are not looking for anyone else in connection with this incident,” he added.
“Everyone is stunned. This is a very quiet street in a very quiet area,” said one of the neighbors in the area.
According to the police, a full report will be sent to the procurator fiscal (a local coroner and public prosecutor).
The case was still under investigation.
