F.E.A.R. 3 set to release in June after delay
Day 1 Studios will be releasing the much-awaited F.E.A.R. 3 (short for First Encounter Assault Recon), a first person-shooter, on June 21 in the US and on June 24 worldwide, reports said.
F.E.A.R. 3 (stylized in the logo as F.3.A.R.) will be published by Warner Bros. Interactive for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows platforms. The game is a sequel to F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin and is the third installment of the F.E.A.R. franchise. First announced in April 2008, the game is said to be helped by John Carpenter, director of horror movies Halloween, Village of the damned and Ghosts of Mars, on cinematics and written by John Niles.
The game was initially scheduled for a 2010 release but was delayed to March 2011 and further delayed to a June release, as was announced by Warner Bros.
According to Day 1 Studios founder and president Denny Thorley, F.E.A.R will offer new features such as co-op, an evolved cover system. The player will be controlling Paxton Fettel and Point Man, the antagonist and protagonist respectively from the first F.E.A.R. As Fettel, the player will assist the Point Man through abilities such as stun, possession and telekinesis. The Point Man controls will remain the same which is shooting enemies and slowing time.
The multiplayer mode will include four new game modes. The modes are “F****** Run”, “Soul Survivor”, “Contractions” and “Soul King”. The “Contractions” mode has been made similar to Call of Duty’s “Nazi Zombies” mode which is a survival round, where the player will have to create blockades and stock up weapons against endless waves of enemies.
