'Fear The Walking Dead' Cast Portraits Revealed Ahead Of August Premiere Date
It’s only a matter of weeks before AMC debuts its exciting new “The Walking Dead” companion series, “Fear the Walking Dead.” To help get fans excited for the new zombie drama, the network released a slew of character portraits ahead of the show’s August premiere.
The new images, which can be found at AMC’s official “Fear the Walking Dead” page, are light on the zombies but heavy on new characters Madison (Kim Dickens), Travis (Cliff Curtis), Alicia (Alycia Debnam-Carey), Nick (Frank Dillane), Liza (Elizabeth Rodriguez), Daniel (Ruben Blades), Ofelia (Mercedes Mason), Griselda (Patricia Reyes Spindola) and Chris (Lorenzo James Henrie).
As previously reported, the new group of survivors will join the same apocalypse as Rick Grimes (Andrew Lincoln) and the rest of the cast of “The Walking Dead.” However, the two shows exist in slightly different timelines, with “Fear” beginning at the onset of the zombie apocalypse. While most of the events of “The Walking Dead” take place in Georgia and the surrounding areas, “Fear” is set across the country in L.A.
“A highly dysfunctional blended family is forced together when they realize a reported virus is actually the onset of the undead apocalypse,” reads the plot synopsis for episode one of “Fear the Walking Dead,” set to premiere on Aug. 23.
According to series creator Robert Kirkman, the new companion series will focus on single parents Madison and Travis. Both work at the same school and have started a relationship together that blends their highly tumultuous home lives just as the world starts to meet its end. Alicia and Nick are both being raised by Madison, but their lives couldn’t be more different. Meanwhile, Travis is trying desperately to raise his son, Chris, after a messy divorce from his mother, Liza.
In the new promotional pictures, the characters seem to be looking off camera at whatever threat is coming toward them when the series opens. This isn’t the first glimpse that eager fans have received of the new title characters in action. At the San Diego Comic-Con, the show released its first full-length trailer for the series showing society begin to crumble under the weight of the mysterious zombie outbreak.
