Federer Wins the Swiss Indoors Title to End the 10-Month Trophy Drought
Roger Federer won the Swiss Indoors title for the fifth time in six years when he defeated unseeded Kei Nishikori in the final, in his home town tournament on Sunday.
Federer won his 68th title in his 98th final comfortably with the score reading 6-1, 6-3.
He didn't give me a chance, he was too good for me today, said Nishikori, who beat world number one Novak Djokovic in the Basel semi-final. Nishikori, who had beaten Djokovic and Tomas Berdych en route to his third ATP final, was swept aside by a barrage of winning shots from the 30-year-old Swiss.
“It’s always the greatest for me to win the title here. See you next year,” Federer said on court in Swiss-German. This is his first title in 10 months.
