Felicia Barahona, Ex-Teacher, Gives Birth To Student's Baby After Four-Month Sexual Relationship

Felicia Barahona, a 32-year-old former teacher at DeWitt Clinton High School in New York City's Bronx, gave birth to a student’s child after a sexual relationship.

Barahona, who taught science and also is a veteran of the war in Afghanistan, had sex with the student for four months at her home, the Daily News reports. She began the relationship when the boy turned 18 years old in the fall of 2011.

Barahona was fired around the time she gave birth to their child in August of last year.

During the four-month tryst, the ex-teacher encouraged the boy to not wear condoms. According to a report by Richard Condon, special commissioner of investigation, Barahona told him “she didn’t like condoms” and “not to worry.” They had sex “about five times a week, on weekdays and on weekends,” the report said.

After finding out she was pregnant, she asked the boy to attend doctors’ appointments, he told investigators. She even bought wedding rings so they can get married, but they split in early 2012 after a verbal argument.

This is not the first time a teacher has given birth to a student’s child.

Just last month, it was reported that Kelly McKenzy Watson, a 34-year-old San Diego area teacher, is pregnant with her 17-year-old special needs student’s baby.

The student attended the New Haven Youth and Family Services in Vista, Calif., which works with emotionally disturbed boys. Watson met the boy while working there between September 2010 and August 2011 and began dating him.

When the relationship was made public, New Haven’s CEO Doreen Quinn stood by Watson, stating the school did not believe the accusations and was "dismayed and saddened by the findings that resulted in [Watson's] arrest," according to the Daily Mail.

However, the allegations were true, and Watson was sentenced to three years probation and a year in jail but will be let out before her due date in April.

The teenage father was in court during the sentencing and cried when his lover's sentence was read, according to XETV-TV.

“He is very much in love with her and is looking forward to the baby,” Deputy District Attorney Mary Ellen Barrett told the Union-Tribune.
