Female Driver Sped Away After Hitting Teen In Florida, Police Searching For Suspect
Police in Florida were looking for the female driver of a dark blue SUV after she hit a teenage girl in a Tampa street and fled.
The incident took place near the intersection 15th Street N and 122nd Avenue E, north of Fowler Avenue on Thursday at around 7:15 p.m. EST. The unidentified victim was walking home with two of her friends when the vehicle struck her.
The driver of the SUV got down, looked at the victim, and then drove off southward without attempting to help her or calling 911, said Merissa Lynn, a spokesperson for Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, Fox 13 reported.
The victim was taken to a hospital following the accident, where she was listed in critical condition.
Investigators were analyzing the CCTV images from the scene to identify the motorist. Videos from other nearby cameras were also being collected by investigators for further details, Lynn added.
Police said the SUV’s front end was damaged from the impact of the crash even though both the headlights were intact. Police have urged the public to reach out to them in case they have any information about the driver.
