Rapper Fetty Wap, whose legal name is Willie Junior Maxwell II, pleaded guilty Monday at a federal court in Long Island, New York, to a conspiracy drug charge that carries a mandatory five-year prison sentence.

Maxwell, 31, admitted to participating in trafficking drugs from the West Coast to Long Island. He had been arrested along with five others at Citi Field, the home of the New York Mets baseball team, on Oct. 28, 2021, for transporting and distributing drugs, which included 220 pounds of heroin, fentanyl and crack in 2019 and 2020.

Maxwell pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess and distribute 500 grams or more of cocaine, which spared him from a possible life sentence if convicted on all drug charges.

Maxwell was jailed on Aug. 8 for violating his bond agreement after he threatened to kill a man and wielded a gun during a FaceTime call.

He has faced other legal troubles. In November 2017, Maxwell was arrested in Brooklyn, New York, and charged with drunk and reckless driving. In September 2019, he was arrested on battery charges in Las Vegas for striking a valet at the Mirage Hotel and Casino.

The New Jersey-born musician gained fame in 2015 for his hit debut song "Trap Queen," which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 100 chart.
