Fiance Of Halle Berry, Olivier Martinez, Comes From Family Of Boxing Professionals, Explaining The Damage He Did To Gabriel Aubry's Face During Their Fight
Olivier Martinez, Halle Berry's fiance, said he comes from a family of professional boxers. He made the comments when he described the bruised face Berry's ex, Gabriel Aubry, after the two fought one another in front of Barre's home. (View pictures here.)
“I had a good left hook -- but keep that a secret!” Martinez said in Ocean Drive last month.
His father was a champion boxer in Paris, where Martinez was born and raised. His father evidently taught Martinez some of his fighting skills.
“Boxing is the “noble art” -- that’s the name of the game. It’s savage, but with rules, discipline and a high sense of morality. At times, it seems like society has no morality, so I’ve always liked boxing because it’s hard, it’s violent, but it’s honest,” Martinez said.
Last week, Aubry and Martinez got into a heated physical altercation, but according to TMZ, it was unclear what it was about as both men were speaking in French.
Aubry, a French-Canadian model, is the father of Berry’s four-year-old daughter, Nahla, and he was dropping her off at Berry’s home on Thursday morning when the fight occurred. The Berry and Aubry split up in 2010.
TMZ reports that Martinez allegedly approached Aubry and said, “We have to move on,” regarding Aubry and Berry’s defunct relationship.
But, TMZ reports, Aubry replied with his fists. “Olivier blocked [Gabriel's punch] and the punch struck him in the shoulder instead ... Gabriel then pushed Olivier to the ground, a struggle ensued, ending when Olivier pinned Gabriel to the ground,” TMZ states.
It is unclear at the time whether Nahla witnessed the incident, but sources tell the celebrity gossip site that Aubry went "nuts" in front of Berry and other witnesses.
Aubry suffered a broken rib and possibly a head injury, while Martinez suffered a hand injury. Both men were taken to the ER at a nearby hospital.
Aubry was ordered to remain 100 yards away Berry, Martinez and Nahla.
The Daily Mail states that all four were out just the day before at a Thanksgiving celebration. After Martinez was released from the hospital, he, Berry and Nahla went to a friend's home for Thanksgiving.
This situation comes just 10 days after a judge rejected Berry’s pleas to move her daughter to France, allegedly to keep her away from paparazzi.
Berry’s ex, Gabriel Aubry, felt the move was meant to keep him from seeing his daughter, and he has been fighting Berry in a heated ongoing custody battle.
The judge ruled, however, that Nahla will have to stay in the U.S.
Berry, 46, dated Aubry, 35, for five years, beginning in 2005. She is now engaged to Martinez. “I’m a hopeless romantic, and I won’t stop till I get it right! [Olivier’s] silly, a clown, and very much the life of the party, which is good for someone like me,” Berry was quoted as saying in the November issue of InStyle.
