‘Fifty Shades Darker’ And ‘Freed’ Movies Wrap In Vancouver, E.L. James Updates With Farewell Photos
“Fifty Shades Darker” and “Fifty Shades Freed” are well on their way to being finished. While moviegoers will have to wait until February 2017 to see the next installment of the Christian Grey-Ana Steele love story, author and producer E.L. James has announced the final two finals are done filming in Vancouver.
One day after giving fans a sneak peek of Christian’s Red Room, James took to Instagram on Monday to congratulate director James Foley on his work. “And that’s wrap Vancouver,” she wrote alongside a photo of her and Foley. “Thank you to the most fantastic crew and production team. You are all amazing.” James followed up her goodbye post with a shot of the Vancouver skyline. “Gonna miss this view,” she captioned the shot.
While James is leaving Vancouver it doesn’t appear the movies, which are shooting simultaneously, are wrapped just yet. It was announced in February that the film would shoot several scenes in Paris “within the first six months of the year.” In the “Fifty Shades” books, Christian and Ana go overseas for an extravagant honeymoon. It’s possible actors Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, who portray the lovebirds on screen, could be filming post-wedding scenes in the city of love.
“Darker” and “Freed” began production in Vancouver in February. While some of the movie’s racier sequences were shot on sets, others were filmed in public. Dornan and Johnson were spotted filming the book’s iconic art gallery kissing sequence in March. Another outdoor sequence showed Dornan’s character protecting Ana from her suspicious new boss, Jack Hyde (Eric Johnson).
“Fifty Shades Darker” will be the first to premiere. The sequel to 2015’s “Fifty Shades of Grey” will show Christian and Ana reunite after she dumped him for his BDSM ways. The film will also introduce new characters, including Christian’s ex submissive Leila Williams (Bella Heathcote) and his ex-dominant turned business partner Elena Lincoln/Mrs. Robinson (Kim Basinger). “Fifty Shades Freed,” the final film in the series, will follow with a February 2018 release.
