'Fifty Shades Of Grey' Behind The Scenes Videos Come Out Ahead Of DVD Release Date
Good news, “Fifty Shades of Grey” fans: The movie is almost out on Blu-ray and DVD, and with it will be juicy extras like behind-the-scenes stories and interviews with the cast. Entertainment Weekly reveals how the filmmakers and actors prepared for one of the movie’s pivotal scenes, Anastasia "Ana" Steele’s entrance into Christian Grey’s Red Room of Pain.
Dakota Johnson, the fresh-faced actress who plays Ana, said she avoided the playroom set at all costs during production so as to capture Ana's most authentic reaction upon entering the room. Jamie Dornan, on the other hand, spent a lot of alone time in his character's scarlet room, familiarizing himself with where all the props were placed.
“Fifty Shades of Grey” author E.L. James discusses the production design, pointing out how Grey’s modern and cold apartment hints at something missing for his character. The Red Room of Pain is the polar opposite, “sensuous and warm,” says James.
Sadly, this will be the most new footage fans will see for some time. Production delays have set the sequel, “Fifty Shades Darker,” back to 2017. Original director Sam Taylor-Johnson will not return after reported disagreements with James, nor will screenwriter Kelly Marcel, who has been replaced by James’ husband, Niall Leonard. Earlier this week, reports confirmed Rita Ora would reprise her role as Mia Grey, Christian’s sister.
