‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Movie Drama: Dakota Johnson’s Boyfriend, Jordan Masterson, Upset Over Erotica Star's Newfound Fame
'Tis the holiday season, but it seems not everyone at actress Dakota Johnson's house is necessarily in the holiday spirit.
According to a recent report from Star magazine via Entertainmentwise, Johnson’s boyfriend, fellow actor Jordan Masterson, is allegedly upset over his actress beau’s newfound fame since she was cast in the film adaptation of “Fifty Shades of Grey” by author E.L. James. “The attention she is getting bugs him,” an insider told the magazine.
While Masterson, 27, best known for playing the small role of “Mark” in the 2005 comedy “The 40-Year-Old Virgin,” may not be happy with his leading lady's new gig playing Anastasia Steele, a sexually inexperienced college graduate in the BDSM-themed flick, a separate source is calling the rumors completely false. “Johnson signed on to play Anastasia Steele in the movie nearly four months ago, at which point everyone in the world (Masterson included) knew it was going to be one of the most sexually explicit mainstream films in years,” said a report from GossipCop Friday, adding, "Why let that get in the way of a good rumor about him all of a sudden becoming jealous?”
This isn’t the first time rumors of Masterson’s possible displeasure over Johnson’s leading role in the erotica film have swirled. Following news of her casting, the Daily Mail uncovered that Masterson’s family is “firmly rooted” in the religion of Scientology. According to the report, the family’s beliefs directly conflict with Johnson’s role in the potentially NC-17 rated flick, as scientologists are raised to believe that pain and sex are “invented tools of degradation.”
Johnson was last spotted out in public with Masterson in Aspen, Colo., on Saturday. The couple was joined by Johnson’s famous mother, actress Melanie Griffith, and her step-father, actor Antonio Banderas.
Before the holidays, Johnson and her “Fifty Shades of Grey" co-star Jamie Dornan were photographed filming the series’ steamy “bike scene” in the Gassy Jack Square area of Vancouver on Dec. 19. “Fifty Shades of Grey” is currently scheduled to be released in theaters on Feb. 13, 2015.
