‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Radio Commercial For Movie Trailer Features Jamie Dornan’s American Accent
With just two days left until the debut of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie trailer, Universal Pictures appeased the book’s fans this week by releasing a radio commercial for the highly anticipated film.
In the video currently making the rounds on the Web, fans of the best-selling E.L. James novel can hear the film’s lead actors reciting some of the series' most famous one-liners.
“Mr. Grey will see you now,” an unknown female voice says, followed by Jamie Dornan, who plays the mysterious Christian Grey, saying, “I’m incapable of leaving now.” Actress Dakota Johnson, who plays opposite Dornan as his on-screen lover, Anastasia Steele, responds, “Then don’t.”
The promo later features Dornan saying the telling phrase, “So it begins.”
According to the unidentified female radio DJ featured in the viral clip, fans of her station had been pouring in requests for her to play the commercial in an effort to hear native Irishman Dornan's American accent used in the film.
“I've never had a request for a commercial before,” said the DJ, laughing. “People have called and said, 'Hey, can you replay that commercial that has to do with ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ because the lead character talks in it and we need to know what he’s saying exactly.”
According to the promo, the film’s first official trailer will air Thursday during NBC’s “Today” show (weekdays 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT). A behind-the-scenes clip from the movie adaption’s set is rumored to premiere the following day on "Today."
Universal released the film’s first teaser trailer Saturday via Beyonce’s Instagram page. Similar to the movie's newly released radio commercial, a slowed-down version of the singer's 2003 hit single “Crazy In Love” can be heard playing in the background.
James later released a widescreen version of the same teaser.
