The Mayor of Cambridge, Maryland, Andrew Bradshaw, has been charged with 50 counts of “distributing revenge porn,” for allegedly posting nude photos of a past romantic partner to Reddit.

On Monday, Bradshaw was arrested, and the charges were released by Maryland State Prosecutor Charlton T. Howard.

“Mr. Bradshaw is then alleged to have posted nude photographs of VICTIM-1, captioned with racial slurs and sexually explicit language, on those “Reddit” accounts and various “Subreddit” forums that were related to sexual activity, humiliation, degradation, race, and other topics," the release stated.

The accounts connected with the posting of the photos on Reddit included the victim's “face and intimate parts,” and employed usernames with different combinations including her legal name and birthdate, according to documents.

The past romantic partner, going by “VICTIM-1,” has said that the photos exposed were only sent to Bradshaw during their relationship and that she did not give him consent to post them.

“VICTIM-1 advised that she transmitted the posted photographs only to one other person, Andrew Bradshaw, that the photographs were sent when she and Bradshaw were in an intimate relationship, and that she not provide Bradshaw with consent to re-distribute the photographs,” said the complaint, filed in Dorchester County circuit court.

The release explains that Maryland law "prohibits the nonconsensual distribution of a private visual representation of another which exposes their intimate body parts or displays them engaged in sexual activity, with the intent to harm, harass, intimidate, threaten or coerce the person depicted."

If Bradshaw is convicted, he faces a maximum penalty of two years in prison and a $5,000 fine for each count.

Michael Belsky, Bradshaw's attorney, said in a statement on Tuesday that "The allegations against Mayor Bradshaw involve private matters that are unfortunately playing themselves out in a public forum. Nothing about the allegations in any way affect Mayor Bradshaw’s desire and intent to continue to lead all the citizens of Cambridge."

Bradshaw made an appearance in court on Monday, where he released himself on his own recognizance. He must follow court-ordered restrictions to not contact the victim.
