  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake will bring some personality changes to its main character
  • Story writer Kazushige Nojima highlights that cloud Strife could be more 'cringe-worthy' in the game
  • Final Fantasy 7 Remake is scheduled for release on April 10

Final Fantasy 7 Remake isn’t just expanding from the original 1997 game and bringing in new experiences. Apparently, changes will also be coming to its main character, Cloud Strife.

According to the game’s story writer Kazushige Nojima, Cloud’s character will undergo a massive change in the remake. From the cool, stylish and sometimes aloof persona, Cloud’s personality will look like more vulnerable and he will have the momentary slips from his “cool façade.”

Nojima noted that he has gone “much deeper into the inner psychology of Cloud,” which suggests that the main character’s personality will be a focus in the game – as much as the other game improvements and expansions from the original.

“For this game I have gone much deeper into the inner psychology of Cloud, the main character,” Nojima shared in a Final Fantasy 7 Remake documentary video, per IGN.

“In the original I depicted him as a cool and stylish character. However, this time, he can miss the mark and be a little cringe-worthy at times. His cool facade can often slip. Because he wants people to accept him and respect him, he puts on a front. So, when he doesn't know something he just goes ‘Not interested’. I have written him in a way that makes you think that ‘Not interested’ might not be a cool thing to say, but can sometimes be a bit lame.”

Nojima, however, admitted that he is not sure if fans will be able to accept the changes in Cloud’s personality, especially years after getting used to his persona that exudes strength and invincibility.

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is set for release on April 10, so Nojima and Co. don’t have to wait for long to determine how some fans will react to the change in Cloud.

However, it is worth noting that not all players who pre-ordered the will receive their game copies in the exact date of release. Previously, Square Ennix announced the possible delay in the delivery of the game due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Due to the global health crisis, the delivery of non-essentials such as games will not be a priority, which would likely cause the delay.
