Why exactly did the royal familt consent to letting Sarah Ferguson, the disgraced Duchess of York, star in her own reality series?

According to London's News of the World, who obtained an advanced copy of the first of the six-part series that will premiere on Oprah Winfrey's Network this Sunday, Fergie gushed all kinds of secrets into the camera.

Fergie confesses that her marriage unraveled after seeing her husband, Prince Andrew, only 40 days a year for the first 5 years of their marriage. She also says that she hasn't spent a Christmas with her children in the past 12 years. It's not O.K., she says of the situation. But what else can I do?
