First 'Call of Duty 2023' Leak Reveals Game Setting And Developer [Details]
KEY POINTS
- "Call of Duty: Vanguard" is set to release in November 2022
- The game was developed by Sledgehammer Games
- A new leak claim "Call of Duty 2023" is being developed by Treyarch
"Call of Duty: Vanguard," this year's series' installment, is still a few months away but a fresh set of details about "Call of Duty 2023" has already surfaced online.
Reliable industry insider Tom Henderson shared that the supposed details about the "Call of Duty" title Activision are scheduled to release in 2023. Henderson named Treyarch as the gaming studio in charge of the upcoming game's development.
The series' game developers, namely Sledgehammer Games, Raven Software, Infinity Ward and Treyarch all observe a three-year studio cycle. Based on this, it is safe to say the insider's information about the gaming studio seems accurate.
It also means that while Activision publishes a new "Call of Duty" title every year, Treyarch had most likely started the work after the release of "Black Ops 4" in 2018. This could be the reason why the insider already has some information about the 2023 "COD" installment.
The insider also clarified the next series installment from the gaming studio will be "semi-futuristic." He also mentioned "Call of Duty 2023" is a "boots on the ground" game.
"Treyarch's next game is also semi-futuristic (boots on the ground) if you want 2023 info," Henderson tweeted Thursday.
The insider's description sounds like the upcoming title will be something like the popular "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2."
The game developed by Treyarch that was released in 2012, was set in 2025 and featured an array of unique arsenals and gadgets. It would be interesting to see if the upcoming "COD" title would be set in the Black Ops universe.
As for its plot, fans look forward to seeing the upcoming campaign taking place following "Black Ops 2," which tells the story of David Mason and might be set after "Black Ops 4," featuring the grandchildren of Alex Mason.
Moreover, it would be interesting to see if the supposed game would bring back more "Black Ops 2" maps. Unfortunately, those are the only details Henderson shared about the next "COD" title.
It is important to remember that while this new set of information could be accurate, it might change along the way. Fans should therefore take the latest leak as speculative.
