First Sign Prince Charles Wasn’t In Love With Princess Diana Revealed

Prince Charles wasn’t in love with Princess Diana.

The Prince and Princess of Wales had a fairytale wedding when they exchanged vows, but royal experts felt that Prince Charles wasn’t in love with his bride from the start. In fact, the Duke of Cornwall had been showing signs about his true feelings for Princess Diana in as early as their engagement interview.

According to the 2018 documentary “The Story of the Royals,” it was during the couple’s televised interview when the Prince of Wales revealed that he was not in love with Princess Diana. Both were asked if they were in love and Princess Diana said, “Of course.” On the other hand, Prince Charles said that “whatever in love means."

Royal commentator Sarah Gristwood questioned Prince Charles’s response. According to her, the royal’s answer was not a “ringing endorsement.”

“I mean, what sort of person says that to their partner?” historical consultant for the Crown Robert Lacey added. “Let alone to the world as a whole?”

On the other hand, royal biographer Andrew Morton explained that many thought Prince Charles was just befuddled with love for Princess Diana at the time, so he didn’t know what to say. However, the views about the said interview changed over time.

“It was not seen as being the run moment that it would later be seen as,” Morton added.

Prince Charles and Princess Diana had a rocky relationship. They always bickered and argued at home and Prince William witnessed everything. It came to a point when the Duke of Cambridge couldn’t take it anymore that he yelled at his dad and shut the door. Prince William was hurt and furious with the Prince of Wales because he always made his mom, Princess Diana, cry.

When Prince Charles and Princess Diana decided to end their marriage, Prince Harry had a hard time accepting it. However, Prince William simply told his mom that he was fine with it as long as it would make her happy.

Princess Diana was stripped of her royal title following her divorce from Prince Charles. Nevertheless, Prince William comforted his mom and promised the People’s Princess that he would return the honor to her when he becomes the new king.
