'Five Nights At Freddy's 4' Gets A Suspicious, But Possible Release Date
The “Five Nights at Freddy’s” series has unexpectedly taken the world by storm with numerous sequels, video walkthroughs and a movie coming soon, so it’s no surprise to anyone that “Five Nights at Freddy’s 4” was announced sometime after the film. The games reportedly have been easy to make, though fans have been wondering when the fourth installment was coming, at least until the game’s creator Scott Cawthon supposedly revealed the release date in a Reddit forum.
According to the forum, “Five Nights at Freddy’s 4” will be coming out on Aug. 8 as a way to celebrate the first anniversary of the “Five Nights at Freddy’s” series. Afterward a free update will be available on Oct. 31 as a special Halloween treat for fans, which is said to feature plenty of extra content. A trailer for the game has since been released and can be seen below.
It sounds hard to believe Cawthon would reveal the game’s release date, and Pocket Gamer noted it’s not very hard to fake an email confirmation. The fact that a Reddit user revealed the news makes the confirmation from Cawthon sound suspicious, with many thinking this could simply be a hoax to get fans excited.
However, it seems the news could be true since the game’s image on its IndieDB page has been title 8815 by Cawthon himself. The image shown has also appeared in Cawthon’s official website for the game, making the Aug. 8 release date a definite possibility.
Time will tell if the Aug. 8 release date is fact and not just some elaborate set up or prank to crush the hopes of the series’ fan base, which has proven to be very hardcore and passionate about the overall franchise. If the game is indeed coming out on Aug. 8, fans can expect the title to hit Steam first for PC users before it inevitably comes to mobile devices via the iTunes App Store and Google Play.
