‘The Flash’ Season 3 Spoilers: When Will Savitar Show Up?
Fans are going to meet Savitar in next week’s episode of “The Flash.”
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Greg Berlanti revealed that viewers are going to see the villainous speedster before this fall’s highly anticipated four-way crossover event between “Arrow,” “The Flash,” “Supergirl” and “Legends of Tomorrow.”
“People will have seen him before the crossovers [which will start with ‘Supergirl’s’ Nov. 28 episode],” Berlanti said. “He appears in episodes 6 and 7.”
“The Flash” Season 2, episode 6, titled “Shade,” airs on Tuesday, Nov. 15. It’s unclear, however, how Savitar will fit into the storyline, as both the synopsis and trailer for the installment mainly tease Wally’s (Keiynan Lonsdale) imminent transformation into Kid Flash.
During the CW superheroes panel at EW PopFest last month, Berlanti said that Savitar is “the god of motion” and Barry’s (Grant Gustin) “biggest foe yet.”
In an interview with IGN in August, Berlanti’s fellow executive producer Todd Helbing assured fans that Savitar is unlike any of the show’s previous speedster villains. “Savitar is more of a psychological villain in a weird way,” Helbing said. “I think the Hindu word for Savitar means God of Speed; he’s all about speed. Everything about this guy is different. I can’t go into super detail, but he’s not like Zoom [Teddy Sears] or Reverse-Flash [Matt Letscher].”
Helbing also told TVLine in August that Savitar will start wreaking havoc in Central City as Team Flash continues to deal with Doctor Alchemy. The executive producer said that when Savitar shows up, the problem for Barry becomes: “‘Just when I think I’ve taken down this guy, I’ve got this [other] dude to worry about, and vice versa.’ It’s like flanking.”
While Helbing wouldn’t reveal whether the two villains will deliberately work together to take down The Flash, he coyly told IGN that “Doctor Alchemy’s plan and Savitar’s plan are not much different” from the other.
