‘The Flash’ Season 4, Episode 5 To Feature Iris’ Bachelorette Party? [SPOILERS]
“The Flash” executive producer Todd Helbing has revealed new details about Season 4, episode 5 of the CW series.
In a recent interview with TVLine, Helbing said that the episode, titled “Girls Night Out,” will see the female characters on the show take a break from work and unwind.
“It’s really fun,” Helbing teased of the episode. “The girls [plus ‘Arrow’s’ Felicity Smoak (Emily Bett Rickards)] go and have a night out in Central City alone, without the guys. And they get into some trouble.”
When asked if the outing is actually Iris West’s (Candice Patton) bachelorette party, Helbing responded with a laugh and said, “Possibly.”
While Iris is still engaged with Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) at the end of Season 3, Patton previously revealed that Barry’s decision to lock himself up in the Speed Force at the end of last season has actually strained their relationship.
“There’s going to be some trust issues,” Patton told Entertainment Weekly last July of what viewers can expect from Barry and Iris’ relationship next season. “He left and didn’t really ask her or discuss it with her. He just kind of does things and comes back and says, ‘I hope you’re okay with that.’ They’re going to have to really work on their relationship before they actually tie the knot. … There’s going to be some work that needs to be done before they actually put rings on each other’s fingers.”
Patton shared the same thing during a separate chat with TV Guide. “They have communication issue,” the 29-year-old actress said when asked where Barry and Iris’ love story picks up in Season 4. “I think we’re gonna try and see them work through those.”
Whether or not Season 4, episode 5 will feature Iris’ bachelorette party, the girls’ night out in the installment will surely bring the show’s female characters closer — a moment that Patton has long been campaigning for.
“The female friendships [on the show] are kind of not as strong,” Patton said (via Comic Book Resources) during last month’s San Diego Comic-Con. “I keep advocating for Linda Park (Malese Jow) to come back because I feel like [Iris and Linda], of all the characters, could have a really great female friendship. I don’t know if that’s something that’s going to happen. But we’ve got Caitlin (Danielle Panabaker), we’ve got Gypsy (Jessica Camacho), Jessie Quick (Violett Beane) … We’ll see. Maybe Season 4. Maybe.”
“The Flash” Season 4 premieres on Tuesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. EDT on The CW.
