Before Gustin was spotted on set wearing the new suit, the 27-year-old actor actually shared a photo of half of the costume on Instagram.
Gustin also briefly spoke about his desire for a new costume during an interview with ComicBook.com at San Diego Comic-Con last weekend. “If Barry gets out of the Speed Force, I think a new suit would be good,” he said at the time.
As to what scene was being filmed at the time Gustin was seen in the new suit, HollywoodNorth.buzz reported that the show was shooting a stunt, in which a mystery character — who fans think is DC villain Hazard — knocks Barry to the ground. After arriving on set, Gustin reportedly hugged his stunt double and other crew members and then began blocking the stunt fall. Season 4, episode 3, titled “Luck Me a Lady,” is being directed by VFX whiz Armen Kevorkian.
Meanwhile, while all speedster costumes on the show were seemingly made from similar materials, Violett Beane — who plays Jesse Quick on the series — previously told IGN that Gustin’s suit is different from the others.
“He gets off [of his suit] a little bit easier,” the “Leftovers” alum said of Gustin. “His [costume] has a lot of other fabric in it. It has a stretchy bamboo fabric so he’s a little bit easier. Mine is full leather.”
