‘The Flash’ Star Jessica Camacho On Joining The Cast Of The CW Series
Jessica Camacho is thrilled to be part of “The Flash.”
In the “Behind the Season Finale” featurette for “The Flash” Season 3, Camacho talked about her experience of playing Gypsy in the recently concluded installment of the CW series. “After my first episode, [executive producer] Andrew [Kreisberg] was like, ‘So how was it?’ and I’m like, ‘It was like amazing, you know,’” Camacho says in the clip. “I was just like a schoolgirl. I was just beaming because the cast is amazing, the crew’s amazing. Everyone’s so sweet and I feel like everyone’s so grateful for the opportunity to be telling this story and to be here working with one another.”
Camacho also says that the energy on set was “amazing,” adding that she got a warm welcome from the cast and crew. “They were so welcoming to me,” she says in the featurette. “I was a little nervous but they just, with open arms, welcomed me and that was really nice.”

In an interview with Collider last January, Camacho said that she went through the usual audition process before ultimately scoring the role of Gypsy. “I went through the whole, ‘You have an audition tomorrow.’ ‘Oh, okay,’” she shared. “I went in, initially, and met with the team of producers, and it was completely and totally nerve-wracking, but I just loved this part so much. I really just connected with [Gypsy], right from the get-go. There was so much strength and wit to connect to. She knows exactly what she’s doing, at all times. That overpowered the nerves and I saw myself sinking into her strength and who this character was. It was just so much fun. Thankfully, it worked out in my favor.”
Camacho added that being cast as a superhero is “a complete, total pinch-me moment” for her. “It’s one of the moments that you dream about when you’re hustling auditions, waiting tables and grinding,” the “Sleepy Hollow” alum said. “When I was standing there, I found myself looking back to all of those moments. It’s just a trip to see where all that work has brought you, and it just makes me very, very grateful. I couldn’t have asked for a cooler, more exciting opportunity. I just love every second. It’s awesome!”
Gypsy was last seen in the Season 3 finale with the rest of Team Flash as Barry (Grant Gustin) bid farewell to everyone before heading into the Speed Force. Gypsy survived the season, so it’s likely that fans will see more of her in Season 4.
“The Flash” Season 4 premieres in the fall on The CW.
