‘The Flash’: Will Season 4 Introduce A New Love Interest For Caitlin?
Since it was revealed that Tom Felton is not reprising his role as Julian in Season 4 of “The Flash,” fans of the CW series have begun to wonder whether the upcoming season will introduce a new love interest for Caitlin. While executive producers on the show haven’t mentioned anything yet about what’s in store for Caitlin’s romantic life next season, Danielle Panabaker thinks that it would be better if her character takes a break from dating in the meantime.
“Caitlin needs a break,” Panabaker said (via FanSided) during a press conference at Dragon Con in Atlanta earlier this month. “What I did like about her relationship with Julian is that while you definitely could sense his affection for Caitlin, she was a little bit more hesitant. She didn’t quite jump in the same way he did because of her past relationships and current dilemma of dealing with this crazy person inside of her (Killer Frost). I did appreciate seeing that change last year for sure.”
Although Panabaker recently told Digital Spy that Julian’s absence in Season 4 is “a loss for the show and for Team Flash,” the actress admitted that she doesn’t think Caitlin will feel Julian’s absence “as deeply as she felt Ronnie’s (Robbie Amell) absence” before. “Here’s the one thing I will say about Caitlin's relationship with Julian last year — I think he was more into her than she was into him,” Panabaker explained.
With Julian out of the picture, it looks like Caitlin will be spending much of her time trying to understand herself and her icy alter ego, Killer Frost. “She’d been through so much, and was so confused,” Panabaker said. “I think the whole Savitar [and] Barry (Grant Gustin) thing was very difficult for her, and I think she needed some time to step away from Team Flash, and sort of find herself, and find her own power again.”
