A Delta flight performed an emergency landing at the Los Angeles International Airport, Thursday night after a 10-year-old onboard passenger suffered a cardiac arrest.

The airport was informed about the incident and paramedics had arrived at the spot to treat the child. The authorities later told the local sources that the medics tried their best to revive the child but it was reported that the girl later passed away due to a cardiac arrest.

The officers at the Los Angeles Fire Department issued a statement about the incident and said, “LAFD paramedics responded to medical aid for a minor female child and furiously worked to save her life. Sadly, all efforts were futile and the child was beyond medical help.”

According to the local reports, the flight was supposed to leave the Los Angeles airport at around 4.30 p.m. local time (7.30 p.m. EST) but due to the emergency situation, the flight left later at around 12 a.m. local time(3 a.m. EST).

The investigations in the case were underway but the police officers reported that there was no foul play expected in the incident. Due to the complications of the occurring, the flight was delayed for several hours and the passengers on board were being booked into other flights and sent to their destinations.
