This Is Florida: Labrador Hijacks Master's Car, Drives In Circles For Nearly An Hour
A dog in Florida decided to take its master’s car for a joyride and managed to return the car relatively undamaged.
A large Labrador retriever, belonging to a resident of Port St. Lucie got behind the wheel of its master’s car on Thursday. It managed to get behind the driver’s wheel while the engine was still running, shift into reverse and drive around the cul-de-sac.
“First I thought I saw somebody backing up but then they kept going and I'm like OK what are they doing,” witness Anne Sabol told Gold and Treasure Coasts ABC-affiliate WPBF. “The cops came and I'm like OK.”
The car drove around the neighborhood as police and firefighters arrived. The dog did several doughnuts before hitting a mailbox and garbage cans. Port St. Lucie police managed to get to the car and opened the door to allow the dog out.
“OK, this is turning weird,” Sabol continued. However, she said she was impressed with the dog’s driving ability.
“They should give that thing a license.”
The car was largely undamaged and no major damage befell the neighborhood aside from the mailbox. No one was injured and the dog’s owner has promised to repair the mailbox.
