The suspect, 54, was arrested around 9 a.m. by the Hernando County Sheriff's Office for alleged involvement in a domestic dispute in Tampa. Police have not released the identity of the suspect or what charges he is facing.
He allegedly was armed and had gone to confront his ex-girlfriend, who reportedly lives in an apartment complex near MacDill Air Force Base with her current boyfriend. The suspect allegedly vandalized the couple’s car and damaged their apartment’s door, allegedly firing several shots before fleeing. Police arrived shortly after and closed several surrounding roads as officers began searching for the suspect.

MacDill houses the U.S. Special Operations Command and U.S. Central Command, which oversees U.S. and allied military operations in the Middle East.
“There were no shots fired on MacDill, and no injuries to MacDill employees,” base officials told reporters.
The situation is still under investigation and police are being aided by MacDill officials, FBI, ATF and the Department of Homeland Security.
