A 55-year-old Florida man allegedly attacked his girlfriend with a holiday ornament on Christmas morning, documents showed.

Frankie Caldwell, of Clearwater, was arrested after he allegedly struck his girlfriend in the head with an "angel figurine" during a confrontation in the couple's home at around 7 a.m. Sunday, the Smoking Gun reported, citing an arrest affidavit.

The "fragile" Christmas ornament shattered into pieces as a result of the attack, with the unnamed victim claiming that some of the bits had fallen down the back of her dress, according to police.

Caldwell denied carrying out the attack and instead claimed it was the victim who had hit him with the figurine.

However, police noted that Caldwell, who is bald, "showed no injuries on his head."

The scene was also "consistent with the victim's account of events," the arrest affidavit showed.

Caldwell was arrested on a pair of felony battery counts. He was booked into the county jail, where he remains locked up in lieu of $7,500 bond.

A judge ordered him to have no contact with the victim.

Caldwell was previously convicted of felony battery in 1991 and 2016. He was also arrested in 2017 after he was accused of elbowing his pregnant girlfriend in the mouth during an argument in their home.

In a similar story, a Texas man was accused of assaulting his pregnant girlfriend on Christmas Day following an argument over gifts.

Police were responding to a report of a disturbance at The Edge Apartments along the 4700 block of Taft Boulevard just before 9:30 a.m. Sunday when they encountered a woman who was crying and walking frantically back and forth.

The woman, who was 8 months pregnant, had several marks on her face, police observed.

She later told officers after calming down that her boyfriend, later identified as Jarin Cedric Simpson, had struck her in the face multiple times with his hands and kicked her, Texoma's Fox reported.

The assault occurred after an argument regarding Christmas gifts, she claimed.

Simpson initially denied attacking the victim, but he later stated, "Well, I'll just say she hit me too, so does she go to jail?"

He was arrested and charged with assault of a pregnant person and failure to identify as a fugitive.

Simpson had multiple outstanding municipal violations as well as an assault family violence charge in Fort Bend County, records indicated.

He was jailed on bonds totaling $15,000, with a condition that he must be held for 24 hours after his bond is posted.

Simpson's three municipal warrants out of Wichita County reportedly totaled $1,007.
