Florida Man Fatally Stabs 1, Wounds Another After Being Told To Stop Urinating In Public
A man in Orlando, Florida, stabbed two men after being told to stop urinating in public. One of the victims succumbed to injuries.
The accused, identified as 46-year-old Craig Chavers, was allegedly walking to a friend’s home Saturday night when he stopped to relieve himself. While he was urinating on a tree in the courtyard of an apartment complex, two men, later identified Brandon Ingram and Roderick Dallas Jr., yelled at him. The accused and the two men soon got into a verbal argument during which Chavers stabbed both of them.
While Ingram was stabbed four times, Dallas was stabbed once. The accused then fled the scene. Ingram was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to injuries.
“Medical staff at Advent Health attempted life-saving medical intervention, but the defendant was pronounced dead at 2:47 a.m. Sunday by Dr. Anthony Gielow,” an Orlando Police report said.
Meanwhile, 34-year-old Dallas, who suffered a stab wound to his “upper left rib cage area,” remained in Orlando Regional Medical Center for treatment. Dallas told the investigators that he yelled at Chavers as he felt the man was being “disrespectful toward the females and children in the immediate area” by relieving himself in public.
The accused was taken into custody and during interrogation, Chavers alleged that the two men started attacking him following which he stabbed them in defense. He was charged with second-degree murder and attempted second-degree murder. He remained in the Orange County Jail.
Meanwhile, investigators found a kitchen knife with a “red-colored stain along the handle” at the crime scene. The police report stated that the blood-stain pattern was “consistent with someone being stabbed and/or cut with a sharp object.” Investigation into the incident was ongoing.
The incident comes a few months after a man in Alabama shot his neighbor in the face after the latter confronted him about urinating in public. The victim, identified as 38-year-old John Williams, found his neighbor urinating in the street. He then confronted his neighbor about it. The confrontation soon escalated into a fight during which the upset neighbor retrieved a gun from his car and shot the victim.
