Authorities in Florida are investigating after the dead bodies of a mother and her twins were found in a parked car near a Melbourne apartment complex earlier this week.

The Melbourne Police Department identified the deceased as Andrea Langhorst, 35, and her 3-year-old twins as Olivia and Adam Dyer. The bodies were found Sunday. According to a statement released Monday, authorities responded to a call regarding a suspicious vehicle parked inside the Manatee Cove Apartments complex at 746 Madelyn Way in Melbourne, Florida. Upon arrival, deputies located the vehicle and found three deceased persons inside.

After the discovery, the case was turned over to the Melbourne Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division. The car and bodies were moved to the Brevard County Medical Examiner’s Office, the statement noted.

The authorities didn't immediately release the cause of the death of any of the deceased persons. Detectives are working with the Brevard County Medical Examiner's Office to get more information about the deaths and determine whether there was any foul play involved.

It remains unclear whether Langhorst died at the same time as her children or before them. The detectives said the family appears to have been living transiently out of the vehicle along the east coast of Florida.

Randy Langhorst, the deceased woman’s father, told Florida Today that he hadn't spoken to his daughter since March 11 and was searching for her. "We were looking for her and hadn’t heard anything from her. That was unusual for her. We wouldn’t have daily contact with her, but this was a while," he said. "She was a free spirit, smart as a whip, beautiful, but lived her life to the beat of her own drummer. It’s just a tragedy."

Randy told People that their family is planning to cremate his daughter and her children together. "That's kind of the way we want to do it," he told the outlet, adding: "We just have to have faith right now. It's the only thing that's going to pull us together because I got a lot of hurting people in my family right now."
