Rev. Bryan Fulwider committed suicide after being charged with repeatedly raping a teenage girl. According to the arrest documents obtained by Orlando Sentinel, Pastor Fulwider was facing up to life behind bars after being accused of raping a young girl more than 100 times. The abuse dates back to 2005 when she was only 14 years of age.

Prosecutors deemed the case as “extremely strong” as evidence included Fulwider caught in an almost hour-long recorded phone conversation admitting to a “sexual relationship” with the minor who had been a member of his church at the First Congregational Church in Winter Park, Florida.

Fulwider had posted bail on Thursday, October 17. However, the disgraced pastor was found dead in his home Sunday night. The Medical Examiner’s Office for Seminole County confirmed the death as a suicide. Other details remain unknown.

Fulwider was highly regarded and is known for his work as one of the so-called “Three Wise Guys” on Good Religion Radio’s “Friends Talking Faith” show. The show posted a comment on their Facebook page in regards to Fulwider’s death stating, “We are shocked at the death by suicide of Bryan Fulwider. Our sympathies are with his family in their time of anguish. We stand in solidarity with the victim or victims in this case that will now not have their day in court and receive the justice due to them.”

Meanwhile, Fulwider’s accuser, although unknown, made comments to The Sentinel stating that her “story doesn’t stop with his cowardice.” She also made suggestions there may have been other victims as well. “Fulwider’s day in court will never come because he knew all the truths I could tell,” she continued.

In the wake of Rev. Fulwider’s suicide, his lawyer, Jacob V. Stuart Jr. stressed the fact that his client always “vehemently” denied “each and every allegation.” According to Stuart, Rev. Fulwider’s rights were denied complaining of the treatment of the case in which he believed was handled with “salacious sensationalism.”
