A Florida teacher, who was arrested for offering $200 to a 2-year-old girl's father so he could sexually molest his child, has been fired after law enforcement released the details of his arrest.
Xavier Alexander, a teacher at Grove Park Elementary school, lost his job Monday, just hours after the release of his arrest report, the Palm Beach County School District said in a statement as per Orlando Sentinel.
According to the report, a 39-year-old father posted an online advertisement on March 26 saying that he was looking for someone to split his motel room with while he was waiting to move to his new home. The man also mentioned in the advertisement that he has a 2-year-old daughter. "No weirdos or drugs please," he added.
The man later received a text message from an unknown person, who was later identified as Alexander, asking, "Would I ever be alone with your daughter?" When the girl's father said no, Alexander replied by saying he would rather go elsewhere.
The man reported the correspondence to the police who eventually reviewed the text messages. The detectives then posed as the child's father and responded to Alexander's message, saying he could be alone with the girl if he agreed to pay for two nights of stay in the motel room. Alexander offered to bring $200 and they agreed to meet in the motel room on Thursday.
The police arrested Alexander as soon as he reached the door of the motel room. The officers also found that he had stashed a condom in his shoes.
He reportedly told the officers that he has a sexual addiction and admitted to texting the girl's father with the intention of sexually molesting the child. However, he claimed that he had not sexually abused a child before, news outlet Click Orlando reported.
Alexander was arrested on felony charges of soliciting sex with a minor and traveling to meet a minor for sex. He is currently being held on a $1 million bond at Palm Beach County Jail.
The school district is now providing counseling sessions for Alexander's students and their families.
In a similar incident last month, a music school owner and teacher in New York pleaded guilty to recording and producing hundreds of child pornography after installing spy cameras inside the school toilet. Philip M. Close, 43, pleaded guilty to 61 counts of production of child pornography and 13 counts of possession of material containing child pornography of victims as young as 4-years-old.
