Floyd Mayweather Jr. looks forward to continuing his late uncle Roger's legacy of being one of the best boxing trainers in history.

The retired undefeated fighter penned a long message on his Instagram page as he showed himself in a workout session training his 14-year-old nephew.

In the caption, Mayweather Jr. said that the passing of Roger, who was also his trainer during his prime years, made him realize that he holds the responsibility to pass on the learnings he got from him.

"As many of you know, I've had incredible trainers which included my dad and uncle. Due to the recent passing of my Uncle Roger, I've felt inspired to help those around me the same way they have been there for me throughout my boxing career," the 43-year-old wrote.

Roger died in March due to complications from diabetes.

Mayweather Jr. likewise spoke about the current global crisis and how its timing made him realize the importance of "making a difference".

And as he sets his sights on another step in his boxing career, the five-time world champion seemed to have gained his principle.

"In a time where we must distance ourselves from others, it has allowed me to reflect on how I want to make a difference in people lives and help them achieve their goals," he added.

"A true trainer wants the best out of their fighter and pushes them to the best of their abilities. I want to leave an impression on those around me and allow them to see their potential.

While he admits to being a neophyte in an unchartered role, Mayweather Jr. is confident that he can emulate his success as a fighter to becoming one of the best trainers in the world.

"I am new at training and so far I've been working with people with no boxing experience, therefore we are growing together. But I promise you, I will be one of the best trainers in the world."
