KEY POINTS

  • Floyd Mayweather makes sure he is focused on his ring clash with Logan Paul
  • Mayweather's fiancee moves out but remains supportive of the boxer's wishes
  • Paul is a heavy underdog in the six-round exhibition bout against Mayweather

Make no mistake about it. Floyd Mayweather Jr. is taking internet sensation Logan Paul seriously.

Both individuals are set to tangle in early June with the “Money Man” being the heavy favorite. But despite that, the 44-year-old is not taking any chances and wants to completely focus.

Mayweather has temporarily evicted his fiancee, Anna Monroe, from his 11-room mansion in Las Vegas, a decision that is seen to make sure he is not distracted.

The alleged move was not spared from criticism--with some pointing out that Mayweather had more than enough living space.

Aside from the 11 bedrooms, the former boxing pound-for-pound king also has two guest houses, where Monroe--who works as the lead dancer at his Las Vegas club “Girl Collection”--could stay.

Monroe moved back to her old apartment for now and remains supportive of Mayweather’s decision and endeavors.

Hence, this could be a temporary setup with things possibly returning to normal in the event Mayweather decides to put his boxing plans on hold once more.

Mayweather will face Paul in six rounds of boxing at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida on June 6.

It will be the retired pugilist’s first in-ring action since facing Japanese kickboxer Tenshin Nasukawa in 2018.

Mayweather officially retired in 2017 with an unblemished 50-0 record. Although some question his strategy, the unbeaten American boxer remains one of the top draws in the sport.

Mayweather is a -100000 favorite to prevail over Paul who is at +2000. The chances of the fight ending in a draw is set at +1600.

Knowing Mayweather, he is likely to put on a show. However, that is subject to change. He had his way against Nasukawa, who he easily disposed of in front of a live Japanese audience on New Year's Eve in 2018.

Things were different against UFC star Conor McGregor, a fight that went in 2017 with Mayweather winning via TKO in the 10th round at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

For his part, Paul knows a bit about boxing, which could somehow help him stand up to the multiple-time world champion.

Mayweather is likely to assess how good the 26-year-old YouTuber is first before making his move.

But if he is pushed to the limit, there is a chance he may go in for the kill and finish the bout early.
