Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor Fight Date Finalized: When And How To Watch
Undefeated boxing champion Floyd Mayweather and UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor have been taking verbal jabs each other for some time now, and seemingly everyone wants to see them fight. Boxing fans will soon get their wish, as the two have gifted the world with an August 26 fight date.
McGregor's previous talk of possibly fighting Mayweather snowballed into a game of endless jabs over social media. UFC chief Dana White told Yahoo Sports in March that a fight between McGregor and Floyd Mayweather was feasible, but that they weren’t close to finalizing an agreement.
The August showdown is reportedly set to take place in Las Vegas, a source told Yahoo Sports Wednesday. Mayweather will likely take to social media to give official notice about the locale but had not by Wednesday evening.

Though the specifics of the agreement are unclear, the fight could be held at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas or the MGM Grand Garden. Mayweather Promotions sent a fight proposal to The Nevada Athletic Commission, which they sanctioned Wednesday.
The match will be on Showtime pay-per-view. The Mayweather-McGregor fight will strictly be a boxing card, which will be promoted primarily by Mayweather Promotions. Mayweather plans to have two of his company's best boxers fight on the card. Badou Jack will fight that night. The boxer has a record standing of 21-1-2 with 12 KOs and is former super middleweight world champ who relinquished his title in January to move to light heavyweight. Junior lightweight world title holder Gervonta Davis, who is 18-0 with 17 Kos, will fight as well.
This match will be particularly exciting as both fighters are considered the best in their respective fields. Critics suggest that Mayweather was the top fighter in his era, and possibly among the all-time greats. He has never been knocked out and carries a perfect fighting record. Another win could push his win legacy to 50-0.

McGregor, considered to be one of the best mixed martial arts fighters ever, could be at a disadvantage since he has never set foot in a professional boxing ring. The matchup seemed like a longshot until now because of McGregor’s lack of boxing experience.
Before Mayweather broke the news, McGregor took to Twitter to confirm the fight. He tweeted out his confirmation along with a picture of himself and Floyd Mayweather Sr.
Mayweather hasn’t fought in quite some time. His last bout was a win over Andre Berto in September 2015. He kept his welterweight world title, and he retired shortly after. However, he has been outspoken about coming out of retirement for just one fight — one he desired the most with McGregor.
The betting odds have Mayweather as a -800 favorite to win the fight. McGregor is at +500 via Oddshark.
