Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor Latest Odds: Paulie Malignaggi, Justin Bieber Props
The public continues to give Conor McGregor a chance to defeat Floyd Mayweather. The UFC star’s betting odds are only improving as the super-fight gets closer.
At the start of the week, McGregor’s odds became the best they’ve been since the bout was made official. He’s just a +375 underdog, via OddsShark, while Mayweather is down to being a -500 favorite.
The change in the betting odds came after UFC President Dana White released two short video clips of McGregor’s sparring session with Paulie Malignaggi. The UFC lightweight champion sent the former world boxing champ to the canvas at one point, though Malignaggi claims it was a push, not a knockdown.
“What am I, Steven Spielberg? Come on,” White said in an interview with Randomer Sports. “It’s footage of the actual sparring. Let me tell you what: I was there for all 12 rounds, and Paulie has said some crazy things and bad things about me. I felt sorry for the guy. It was a one-way beating. A lot of people said Conor couldn’t box. Paulie was obviously lying about everything he said about the sparring match, so I released it.”
If McGregor is going to pull off the upset, most everyone agrees that it will be with an early stoppage. He has +375 odds to win by knockout and just +1600 odds to win a 12-round decision.
McGregor has vowed to end the fight within four rounds, though he told reporters Mayweather might not make it beyond two rounds if the gloves for the fight are changed to eight ounces. The Nevada State Athletic Commission will decide if the fighters can use eight-ounce gloves instead of 10-ounce gloves. Mayweather and McGregor will face off at a weight limit of 154 pounds.
Mayweather is favored to get his first knockout in six years. He’s given -150 odds to stop McGregor early. The odds of Mayweather winning by decision are +230.
Both fighters are given +1600 odds to get a first-round knockout. McGregor became the UFC featherweight champion in December 2015 by knocking out Jose Aldo in 13 seconds.
Mayweather was as much as a -2250 favorite when odds for the fight were first created, and McGregor was nearly a +950 underdog. McGregor has no professional boxing matches on his resume, and his last defeat came on March 5, 2016 when he lost to Nate Diaz at UFC 196. Mayweather has never lost in his professional boxing career, and a victory would put his record at 50-0.
Odds have even been created for a potential fight between McGregor and Malignaggi. Malignaggi opened as a -225 favorite with McGregor getting +175 odds.
The prop bets for Mayweather vs. McGregor continue to be more creative. The latest involve Justin Bieber, who is expected to walk with Mayweather to the ring on fight night. Below are the props that concern the pop singer.
