Camera and social media company Snap announced it will launch a flying camera. The drone-like camera is called “Pixy” and has been made to accompany its Snapchat app.

Pixy is “your friendly flying camera. It’s a pocket-sized, free-flying sidekick that’s a fit for adventures big and small,” according to the Snap website.

Any videos or pictures taken on the flying camera will go straight to the user's Snapchat Memories. The camera is capable of smart edits like "Hyperspeed, Bounce, Orbit 3D and Jump Cut." It can float, orbit and follow you around while recording. The Pixy will also land directly back in your hand when you are done using it, the Pixy press release explained.

Pixy is available now in the U.S. and France for $229.99.

Snap has ventured into other products to use with Snapchat like its $380 Spectacles 3 camera glasses and its next-generation augmented-reality Spectacle glasses.

A user manual comes with the Pixy to ensure that it is being used correctly and safely. Snap highlights that it is important to be responsible while using this camera.

Snap also announced multiple other updates on Thursday like director mode, and several augmented-reality modes, like an AR partnership with Live Nation to “enhance concerts and festivals," new AR shopping capabilities for brands, and more.
