KEY POINTS

  • Lamar Odom will make his boxing debut this June
  • Boxing could be good therapy for the former Lakers star
  • Opponent for his first boxing match has yet to be named

Another NBA player will try his luck in boxing. Former Los Angeles Laker Lamar Odom will try his hand in a boxing match this coming June after inking a deal with Celebrity Boxing.

Odom’s potential celebrity opponent has yet to be named although it appears that there is a prospect.

Celebrity Boxing creator Damon Feldman is ironing things out with his ring counterpart, and the identity could be revealed at some point moving forward per TMZ Sports.

It may come as a surprise for most considering Odom was best remembered for being a pillar in basketball.

The two-time NBA champion tried to make a basketball return on several occasions, but his efforts went for naught.

Some may see his intent to try out boxing as nothing more than a way to make some money. That could hold although it would be a good avenue to let off some steam.

However, it may be wise for Odom to prepare and learn a thing or two before getting in the ring. There are questions in the air, including his boxing experience.

Though his mystery opponent could hold the same, the last thing Odom wants to happen is suffering the same fate as Nate Robinson.

The NBA Slam Dunk champion suffered a sorry loss after being on the receiving end of a vicious knockout in the second round. The chances of Odom suffering the same are low although still possible.

Before his name being mentioned as involved in the Celebrity Boxing match, Odom has had his share of adversity. That included a recent split with former girlfriend Sabrina Parr which the 41-year-old is trying to address civilly.

After Parr broke her silence on “The Wendy Williams Show,” Odom fired a response via his Instagram account. He mentioned he was grateful for the lessons he learned from the relationship before the breakup happened.

“We all have our ups and downs in life. Me and this girl, we shared a moment in time and within that moment in time I found out that we should not be together,” Odom said.

But in the end, the caption of the video did not escape eagle eyes, something that threw serious shade Parr’s way.

“She bitter, I’m better. Toxic people and relationships ending is a great thing. It’s almost like the trash taking itself out,” he wrote.
