Former Midfielder Was Told To Reunite With FC Barcelona Before Lionel Messi Retires

The success that FC Barcelona has had over the past two decades can be attributed to Lionel Messi’s legendary career. Throughout his stint with the club, he’s had some memorable moments also with his teammates, including Spanish midfielder Xavi.

Per Everything Barca, the four-time Champions League winner was told to give Barcelona another shot before Messi retires. The 40-year-old has accomplished a lot in his career and has been one of the more prominent figures in the club’s history.

Currently, as a manager of Al Sadd, Xavi has been told to make a trip back to Barcelona. This would entail teaming up with Messi again and would prove to be a strong move for Xavi given their chemistry together.

This was further emphasized by Barcelona legend Samuel Eto’o by encouraging Xavi to make his journey back to Camp Nou.

“I’ve told Xavi that whatever happens, he has to go back to Barca – and I told him that he has to do it while the God of Football is still there, He played with him, and that will make it easier for him than for another,” Eto’o said by way of Goal.

Throughout Xavi’s career, he’s proven to be one of the best players on the pitch. The manner he would control the pace of the game by how he would dribble and pass the ball was considered elite.

During his stint with Barcelona, he tallied a total of 767 appearances for the club. In these matches, he scored on 85 separate occasions. To add to these, he’s proven to be one of the smartest and craftiest players in the sport with 184 assists.

Having someone like Xavi as the manager of Barcelona may prove pivotal in maximizing the team’s potential. The great story of Messi isn’t over yet and there’s still time for Xavi to make the reunion with the Argentinean superstar in a Manager-player relationship.
