Former Players Back Manchester United To Sign 'Established' $124M Attacker This Summer: Report
KEY POINTS
- Former Man Utd players have backed the club to sign Jadon Sancho
- Sancho's transfer fee is expected to be over $124m
- Sancho has been in a terrific form since he joined Dortmund in 2018
A few legends of Manchester United have backed the club to seal the deal for $124 million-worth attacker, Jadon Sancho, this summer transfer market.
The talented striker has several big European clubs chasing him with the transfer window nearing but he has been heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford. A few days ago, former Man Utd captain Rio Ferdinand had claimed the Red Devils will have a “mouthwatering” lineup next season, provided they manage to rope in Sancho from Dortmund.
Before coronavirus halted the current Premier League season, Man Utd were on an 11-match undefeated run. However, Ole Gunnar Solskajer’s side has achieved the same despite being without key players, who have been ruled out due to injuries.
“If I was looking at the team now and you have McTominay with Bruno on one side of the three and Pogba on the other [blows out cheeks]. Rashford upfront, [Anthony] Martial on the left, [Daniel] James or if they’re to buy Sancho on the right."
"You can’t tell me other midfielders aren’t going to be thinking 'if this lot are on fire today we’re going to have to be on a game, it’s going to be a hard day work for us'. There’s ability there, it’s ridiculous. "If they can find that cohesion, the team set-up for them to flourish, it’s mouthwatering what could happen,” Ferdinand said on FIVE’s YouTube channel.
The latest former Man Utd player who has backed the Old Trafford side to sign Sancho is Paul Ince.
“One player that Man Utd, and Ed Woodward, would probably change their thinking on is Jadon Sancho. He’s worth breaking the bank for. He’s still young, only 20, yet so established. He’s obviously incredibly talented, and although the club will be entering a bidding war if they want to buy him if they have the chance they would be stupid not to,” Ince said in an interview, as reported by Goal.
Sancho, who joined Bundesliga side Dortmund in the 2018 transfer window, has been pretty impressive with his game. The 20-year-old midfielder has already been involved in Dortmund’s 73 goals (31 goals and 42 assists) across competitions having made a total of 93 appearances for the former German champions.
Before the coronavirus crisis suspended Bundesliga’s 2019-20 campaign indefinitely, Sancho had started 32 matches where he contributed in 36 goals (17 goals and 19 assists).
