Former ‘Real Housewives Of New Jersey’ Star Amber Marchese's Husband Jim Threatens Legal Action After Airplane Altercation
Jim Marchese spent much of his time on Bravo’s “The Real Housewives of New Jersey” in the dog house, and it seems he’s still struggling to stay out of trouble since the cameras stopped rolling. The whistleblower was arrested on Wednesday due to an allegedly violent incident involving wife Amber Marchese — an altercation he claims was misunderstood by authorities.
TMZ reports that Jim and Amber boarded a red-eye flight from Los Angeles early Wednesday. Before the flight could take off, police were called to the aircraft, where Virgin America staff claim Jim grabbed Amber by the throat and threatened to cause her harm. Los Angeles Police officers removed him from the plane and charged him with felony domestic violence. Amber reportedly showed up at the police precinct shortly after to bail her husband out of jail. TMZ cameras were outside the police station when Jim and Amber left and were able to capture a photo of the couple leaving hand-in-hand. Jim commented on the plane incident, suggesting he was considering taking legal action.
“I guess Virgin Atlantic wanted to take care of my kid’s scholarship fund,” he said.
Neither Amber nor her husband has spoken out about the arrest since then. Amber did, however, post a photo of herself on Instagram prior to boarding the flight. In it, she can be seen holding a hand up to her face while sitting before the camera for the black-and-white photo. The caption references her plans to board the red-eye flight, but nothing more.
Amber announced that she and Jim did not intend to return to “RHONJ” for Season 7 in November 2015. The mother of four released a statement to Us Weekly saying she and her husband had given “a lot of thought” to their return and decided it was not in their best interest. She explained that she had spent much of Season 6 — during which she was heralded as the villain — putting on a front and no longer wished to be viewed as that person.
“Jim and I have been giving ‘Real Housewives of New Jersey’ a lot of thought and given the current state of affairs regarding our personal lives and the direction of the show, we officially decided to move on,” she told Us at the time. “The show was not what we expected it to be, and I want to pursue more endeavors.”
