Former "Real Housewives of Orange County" star Lauri Peterson's son, Josh Waring, was attacked while in jail.

"I was fighting for my life … I was screaming," Waring told Radar Online exclusively in a phone call as his voice cracked. "As he’s punching me, the blade sliced up my face and chest."

According to the outlet, the ex-reality star alleged that a fellow inmate at the Intake/Release Center in Orange County assaulted him with a makeshift weapon made from blades and a pencil. Waring was treated in the infirmary, where he revealed he received stitches across his face and staples down his chest and returned to the same part of the jail.

Currently, Peterson's son is in "terrible pain" but wanted to get out a few last words in case of another incident where he isn't so lucky to make it out with stitches.

"If I do die in here, I just want people to know I am innocent of the shooting,” Waring said.

Longtime fans of "The Real Housewives of Orange County" may remember Lauri, as well as her son, who's struggled with alcohol and drugs. She was part of the inaugural cast and remained for four seasons before exiting the franchise in 2008. During her time on the show, Waring's dealings with the law were such an issue that it became part of his mother's tagline.

Waring has been behind bars for the past three years on attempted murder charges after Costa Mesa, Calif. officers responded to reports of a shooting in 2016. Witnesses identified Waring as the shooter, and he was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder, vehicle theft, hit and run, assault, battery, and felony evading.

"The Real Housewives of Orange County" airs Tuesdays at 9 PM ET on Bravo.
