Police are investigating former WWE star Alberto Del Rio after a woman accused him of repeatedly beating and sexually assaulting her. The woman provided San Antonio police with photos showing injuries she suffered from Del Rio and outlined the history of alleged abuse she suffered during their relationship.
Police said the last alleged altercation was on May 3, when Del Rio confronted the woman and accused her of cheating on him around 10 p.m. She said he slapped her repeatedly when she denied cheating on him before forcing her into his bedroom and get changed in front of him. She told police Del Rio forced her to put on a dress and ordered her to dance and threatened to abandon her son in a random location.
After getting changed, Del Rio allegedly tied the woman’s hands with boxing straps and stuffed a sock in her “to keep her quiet” while he sexually assaulted her. The alleged assault would continue until around 2:30 p.m. on May 4 before the woman was choked out.
Del Rio also allegedly burned the woman’s passport and destroyed her phone and computer during the assault.
Del Rio, 42, whose real name is Jose A. Rodriguez Chucuan, was arrested Saturday on charges of domestic violence and sexual assault. He was released on around 3:30 a.m. Sunday on $50,000 bail.
Del Rio had previously been accused of abuse.
In July 2017, Del Rio and his then-girlfriend WWE wrestler Paige got into an argument at Florida’s Orlando International Airport. Police initially investigated Del Rio on suspicion of abuse and battery, though these were dropped after Paige came forward saying she started the argument and evidence pointing to Paige being the one who hit Del Rio first.
While the case was ultimately dropped, Paige’s family accused Del Rio of abusing and taking advantage of her while they were together.
The couple would split a few months later, with Del Rio taking several shots at Paige and her family in the wake of their break-up.
