The WWE has produced a lot of colorful tag teams through the years although their runs were cut short. One duo that most will recall is Enzo Amore (Eric Arndt) and Big Cass (William Morrisey), perhaps one of the entertaining and lively duo ever to be seen in the wrestling promotion.

Both were released in 2018 after their tag team was disbanded. The storyline of breaking tag teams hardly comes as a surprise since it normally hints at singles career pushes for most stars. Several WWE legends went this route, namely Brett Hart and Shawn Michaels to name a few.

Unfortunately, the speculated plan never worked for either nZo and CaZXL. The former ended up trying a rap career while Cass settled for small independent bookings. The two did reunite at the G1 Supercard show at the Madison Square Garden at Ring of Honor 2019. In what was initially seen as an outside attack, it turned out to be part of a script with the duo forming a new tag team named FreeAgentZ, Sports Illustrated reported.

Just recently, there was word that the WWE was allegedly interested in bringing back Amore and Cass. Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer reported that talks are on for a potential surprise return for the WWE NXT brand.

Roughly 24 hours later, Meltzer backtracked and tweeted that the WWE has no interested in Enzo and Cass at this time. The WWE also announced that there is no truth to these claims, meaning the former WWE tag teams will have to settle for ROH for now.

Looking ahead, it remains possible that Enzo and Cass may return to the WWE. Their reformed tag team is obviously a ploy to try and rebuild their image, a practice that other tag teams have done in the past. Only time will tell if both sides will eventually talk on a potential deal.

Between the two, it is Amore who needs to let things cool off. The former WWE cruiserweight champion was released amidst sexual assault allegations in 2018. Even before that, he reportedly had issues in the WWE locker room for his brash, egotistical, hard-partying behavior, CBS Sports reported. It remains to be seen if Arndt has changed his ways with this renewed partnership with Morrisey.
