‘The Fosters' Casts Emma Dumont In Guest-Starring Role; 3 Things To Know About Sasha Actress

“The Fosters” Season 4 recently cast Emma Dumont to play the role of Sasha in episode 8, entitled “Girl Code.”

In the sneak peek released by Freeform, Mariana (Cierra Ramirez) is seen having a brief encounter with Sasha, while they are both preparing for the FIRST Robotics Southern California Regionals with their respective teams. Mariana is determined to win in the competition, and she’s dead set on making sure that no one will humiliate them again. In the previous episode, Mariana's team members decided to leave her, while they were in the middle of their finishing invention. After all, Mariana has become overly stressed with the job on hand.

Back at the competition, Mariana realizes that there's another all-girls team that will be competing against them. The other team's leader, Sasha, approaches Mariana and her friends to wish them good luck, and they all appear surprised with the former's gesture. Initially, they thought that Sasha is boastful and indifferent.

1. She's involved with robotics in real life

Dumont recently spoke with Cartermatt to talk about her involvement with robotics since she was in high schoool. The 21-year-old actress was part of an all-girls team, and they competed in FIRST Tech Challenge. Later on, she became a member of an all-boys team and they participated in a bigger robotics competition. “I actually ended up captaining that team for many years. Now I mentor the team, and we have a few girls,” she said.

2. She wasn't cast for the role because of her background in robotics

Dummont also clarified the rumors that she was cast to play the role of Sasha because the producers of the hit Freeform TV series were looking for someone who had background in the field. According to her, it was just a coincidence. “I knew they were doing an arc with robotics, and I was so excited, but I didn’t know it was going to be my program FIRST, and then I came in for this role and I was like, ‘Yes! I know this girl, I am this girl!” she said.

3. Dumont wants to be part of the series in more episodes

Dummont wants Mariana and Sasha to become good friends. The actress is also open to the possibility of her character returning in future episodes. Interestingly, the “Aquarius” actress also shared a snap from the set of “Girl Code” via her Instagram account.

“The Fosters” Season 4, episode 8 will air on Freeform on Aug. 15 at 8 p.m. ET.
